New wind music (three commissioned for this project and artist) brilliantly performed by the acclaimed Columbus University Wind Ensemble featuring the internationally renowned Principal Trombone of the NY Philharmonic, Joseph Alessi.

Valerie Potter has performed as principal flutist of the New Mexico Symphony since 1993 and has performed with many orchestras across the country. She is currently serving as associate professor of flute at the University of New Mexico. Her discography includes a recording of twentieth century wind quintet repertoire with the New Mexico Winds. Kevin Vigneau is associate professor of oboe at the University of New Mexico and principal oboe of the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra. He has recorded solo works on major labels.

This Washington D.C. based group has worked together in one form or another for over 10 years, regularly playing concerts at the Kennedy Center, The National Building Museum and the Corcoran Gallery, as well as at Blues alley and many of the area’s finest jazz clubs and festivals.

New Orleans music is contagious – like a fever passed by contact. On this recording, Kevin mixes traditional tunes from Satchmo’s day with modern Professor Longhair-style rumbas, exquisite ethereal ballads, and burning up-tempo jumpers.
