Description
“Songs of a Sojourner” is an album consisting of World Premiere recordings of new works for Trumpet. The idea for this project was birthed while Joshua was pursuing his doctorate at Michigan State University. As a part of his dissertation, Joshua commissioned James Stephenson to write a new concerto for piccolo trumpet and wind ensemble. This commission sparked ideas for other new works which were written by Elliott Bark, Nicole Piunno, and Justin Rito.
Trumpeter Joshua Ganger performs as a chamber musician, soloist, and ensemble member throughout the Midwest and East Coast. Praised for his “impeccable accuracy and demonstrated versatility and sensitivity” (ITG Journal), Dr. Ganger has performed as a soloist at the International Trumpet Guild Conference, and has given guest artist recitals at Western Michigan University, the Hartt School of Music, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Taylor University, Ball State University, and Indiana Wesleyan University. Dr. Ganger has been a featured soloist with the Peabody Conservatory Wind Ensemble as well as the Indiana Wesleyan University Wind Ensemble and Orchestra. He has also performed with the Symphony of the Lakes, Alma Symphony Orchestra, Manchester Symphony Orchestra, and Marion Symphony Orchestra.
Dr. Ganger holds degrees from Michigan State University College of Music, Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University, and Indiana Wesleyan University. He currently serves on faculty at Indiana Wesleyan University and Manchester University where he teaches trumpet, coaches chamber music, and various other courses.
