The STAMPS Jazz Quintet consists of five of the nation’s top high school recruits who have been selected to participate in a unique four-year program made possible by a very generous gift from Roe and Penny Stamps. Throughout the course of their stay at The Frost School of Music, these students will work together with many guest artists as they develop their own unique sound and style.

Nancy Wright is a fabulous big-toned tenor player steeped in the old school. Her CD reminds me of the kind of albums Gene Ammons, Willis Jackson, and Houston Person used to cut for Prestige in the ’60s. Even her four original compositions are uncannily true to that tradition.- Lee Hildebrand
