Beaux J Poo Boo

Beaux J Poo Boo

Biography

Beaux J Poo Boo is a quartet featuring four veteran musicians (pianist Shelly Berg, guitarist Fred Hamilton, bassist Lou Fischer, and drummer Steve Haughton) who are also well known for their contributions to jazz education. The diverse background that each player brings to the date is reflected in his performance, especially in the funky, gospel-inflected cut (penned by Les McCann).

Oh, about the name of the band: It goes back, not surprisingly, to a tune by Les McCann who wrote the song for a 1971 album, Invitation to Openness,  that inspired the group’s unusual name.  It represents, to quote McCann, “The many places the musicians have been in their life, shaping them into who they are today.”
